Meet Your Documentary Wedding Photographers

scholle035.jpg

Hi! I'm Emily.

My love of and training in photography has allowed me not just to take beautiful photos of couples at their weddings, but also the many facets of growing a family (maternity, birth, newborn, family portraits) and supporting local non-profit organizations with the gift of images. I am truly grateful to live the life of a photographer, and for the relationships I get to create with people like you.

Every couple I have photographed since 2016 has had different visions for their perfect wedding. From micro weddings to full day celebrations, they have all had one common thread running through; the imperative to document the true and real moments of the day.

This thread of authenticity is in everything I do, which is why I am so excited to work with you!

Hey! I'm John Paul.

I have been creating memorable documentary photography for clients for 20 years. I started my photography journey as a community photojournalist, honing my craft while capturing the emotion of everyday life. My passion for photography would later lead me to the far reaches of the churning Irish Sea and the Saharan desert.

However, I have photographed weddings across a great swath of our country, from more than a mile high in Colorado to the Kansas plains, of course, to Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, down into Tennessee and over to a beautiful venue overlooking the Potomac River in Virginia.

I enjoy photographing weddings like yours because I get to travel to all these places to witness and document some of the purest emotions happening on our planet on that day, those very moments between you and your family, you and your partner.

It would be an honor to be there on your wedding day to play a role in capturing your joyous union of souls, one click at a time.

Authentic Weddings

Erin&Cormac-017.jpg

There is a wide range of human emotion, and the absolute best photos are sincere and real. This is why I want to work with you; because you are the couple who seek these moments for yourselves.

You are the groom who loves the way she crinkles her nose when she laughs, who will forever be transported back to those moments when she crinkles her nose at you ten, twenty, fifty years from now. You are the bride who closes her eyes in a dreamy smile when her partner takes her in their arms, because you are reminded of the first time you danced and the electricity that shot through your body.

I’m not going to micromanage you. I will give suggestions, and help guide you into poses that feel natural for you both, and then I will step back and let you be yourselves.

I will stand out in the rain to get the shot. I will hike through tall prairie grass in the Flint Hills to get the shot, and straddle the rocky creek bed.

I will be there when the temperature spikes or falls, when the winds are 40 mph. I will be on the dance floor when grandma gets out of her wheelchair to dance to The Beatles, and I will absolutely cry during your exchange of vows because I love weddings and because you two aren’t "clients" to me; you’re friends, and I am here for you.

"The photos she shot are so amazing—they captured the             emotions and personality                 of our wedding                                perfectly."
